Monarch Money Free Trial: Length, Price, and Code

Prices and policies checked .

Monarch Money's trial is 7 days. A payment method is required. Core is $14.99 a month, or $99.99 a year, shown as $8.33 a month. Plus is $199.99 a year, shown as $16.67 a month. There is no free plan after the trial. Those figures are on Monarch's pricing page on October 29, 2026. App Store and Google Play prices were not checked, and that length on those stores is not documented here.

This page is for the week before the charge: how long the trial lasts, what the card is for, what happens when it ends, and the public promo code. The full price list, including what Core and Plus include, is on Monarch Money pricing. Whether the bill is worth paying after the week is on is Monarch Money worth it. The cancel clicks are on how to cancel Monarch Money. Other apps are on Monarch Money alternatives.

How long the trial is

The headline on the pricing page is "Your first week is on us." The plan cards make that a number. Core yearly says "Free 7-day trial, then $99.99/year. Cancel in settings before trial ends. Payment method required." Switch Core to monthly and the same script says "Free 7-day trial, then $14.99/month," with the same cancel line and the same payment-method line. Plus says "Free 7-day trial, then $199.99/year," and a payment method is required there too. The button on each card is "Try Monarch free for 7 days."

The Monarch FAQ, updated September 12, 2026, answers "Can I try Monarch for free?" with "Your first week is on us." That is the same week as the 7 days on the card. A trial longer than 7 days, or a way to extend those 7 days, is not documented on the pricing page or that FAQ.

The pricing FAQ recommends signing up on the web rather than in the Apple or Google store, so the subscription is easier to manage. App Store and Google Play prices, and the trial length at those checkouts, were not on the pages checked. Treat them as not documented here.

What happens when the trial ends

The FAQ says you are billed at the end of the free trial, and the subscription auto-renews until it is canceled. The next bill date shows on the Billing Settings page once you are logged in. If you do nothing, the card you already entered is charged the plan price.

Core, paid monthly, is $14.99 a month. Twelve monthly payments at $14.99 come to $179.88. Core, paid yearly, is $99.99, shown on the card as $8.33 a month. Structured data on the pricing page describes both as US dollars, plus tax where it applies. The help article on updating a subscription, updated October 14, 2026, names the same two Core choices: Monthly ($14.99 / month) and Annual ($99.99 / year).

Plus is $199.99 a year, shown as $16.67 a month, then $199.99 a year after the same 7-day trial. A monthly Plus price was not on the pricing page. The update article's monthly switch is labeled for the Core plan. Do not assume Plus can be paid month to month. That monthly Plus price is not documented.

The pricing FAQ says you can cancel anytime, and that Monarch offers a no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. That sentence does not give a number of days. The dated window on the plan card is the 7-day trial. The money-back article, updated September 16, 2026, is the specific rule: Monarch refunds the remaining time on the subscription. When the refund is issued, the subscription is canceled and paid access ends immediately. Apple App Store purchases are not eligible. Apple handles those refunds. A fixed number of guarantee days is not documented. Do not treat the guarantee as a second free trial.

The cancel article, updated October 20, 2026, says that after you cancel you still have access for the time left on the subscription. Subscriptions cannot be paused or frozen. Canceling does not delete your data. After 30 days, financial connections disconnect, and new data does not sync while you are unsubscribed.

How to avoid the charge

The plan cards say to cancel in settings before the trial ends. The FAQ is stricter about the clock: you can cancel during the trial and keep access for the rest of it, and if you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends you are not automatically billed. The card is already on file, because a payment method is required to start. Waiting until the last hour is the case the FAQ does not promise to cover.

On the web, the cancel article says open Billing Settings, choose Manage subscription, then Cancel Subscription. If cancel is missing, you are likely a household member rather than the admin. Only the admin can cancel. A subscription billed by Apple or Google is canceled in that store, not on Monarch's site. Monarch staff cannot see Apple subscription details. The click path, including the store menus, is on how to cancel Monarch Money.

Promo codes do not remove the need to cancel. The discounts article, updated April 20, 2026, says you can still redeem a code after a website trial has started. A code changes the price of the plan you are about to be billed for. It does not turn the trial into a free plan.

Is there a free plan?

No. The pricing help article, updated March 3, 2026, says Monarch only offers paid subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly, because the product is ad-free and does not sell financial data. Prices can change, and Monarch will notify you at least 30 days before a price change. Subscriptions are billed in US dollars and are subject to tax where it applies.

The household is not a second free product. The FAQ says you can invite one or more household members under a single subscription, each with a login, at no extra cost. That sharing sits on the paid plan. It is not a free plan of its own. Monarch is currently only available in the US and Canada, according to that same FAQ.

The promo code

On October 29, 2026 the pricing page showed a banner: "Get 30% OFF Core for one year with code WELCOME." The promo codes page says "Save 30% on your first year" with the same code. The footer on the pricing page says the discount is for new users only, cannot be combined with other offers, is valid for the annual Core plan only, and the code may expire or be deactivated at any time. A disclaimer on the same page says promo codes are valid on annual Core subscriptions billed directly by Monarch, not by Apple or Google.

The discounts article is the rule book. WELCOME is the example it names. You can redeem a code during signup, or in Settings, then Billing, then Manage subscription, on the web. If you already started a free trial on the website, you can still redeem a code. Codes cannot be combined. They are not applied backward to a subscription you already pay for. They are one use per household. Most codes expire. Unless an offer says otherwise, promo codes are for Core trials and subscriptions started on Monarch's website. They cannot be used on an Apple or Google subscription, and they cannot be applied to Plus or to a monthly plan.

The pages do not print the dollar total after 30% off. Read the checkout total. That discounted dollar amount is not documented here. Do not treat $99.99 as the charged price if WELCOME is still applied, and do not treat 30% off as permanent if the banner is gone.

Student price. A student price is not listed on the pricing page, the promo codes page, or the discounts article. It is not documented on those pages. This guide does not treat a missing line as a hidden code.

Partner offers that are not printed on the pricing page or the promo codes page were not read for this check. They are not documented here. A code you saw on a coupon site is not confirmed.

Who the price is worth it for

Pay for Core if you will use the dashboard after the week ends. The Core card lists complete net worth, a budget, custom reports, and savings and debt goals. The feature table also lists connections to 13,000+ banks and financial institutions, scan and itemize receipts, and add a partner for free, on Core and on Plus. The FAQ says household members cost nothing extra on the subscription you already pay for.

Skip the paid plan if you wanted an account that stays free, or if you will not open the app once the 7 days are over. The card is required up front. If you do not cancel in settings at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the plan price starts. There is no free plan after that week.

Plus, at $199.99 a year, is a second decision. The day-to-day dashboard is already on Core. The Plus card adds a retirement forecast, business income and expenses, P&L reports and tax-prep exports, advanced investment analysis, and a will. Pay the higher bill only if you will use those. The longer look at whether Core is the right bill is on is Monarch Money worth it.

Cheaper or free to start

A cheaper app that skips the dashboard is a different job, not a discount on Monarch. Annual Core at $99.99 is the lower web price if you already know you will stay. Twelve months at $14.99 is $179.88. The field of other apps, with each price and trial, is on Monarch Money alternatives and Monarch Money pricing. This page does not repeat rival prices it did not recheck on October 29, 2026.

Pro is $9.99 a month. Bank sync is Pro only, via Plaid, up to 15 accounts. A free account does not sync a bank. On a monthly bill, $9.99 is less than Core at $14.99.

FAQ

How long is the Monarch Money free trial?

On October 29, 2026 the plan cards on monarch.com/pricing said a free 7-day trial, then the plan price. The page headline is "Your first week is on us." The Monarch FAQ, updated September 12, 2026, calls the same offer a first week. App Store and Google Play trial length is not documented on the pages checked.

Is Monarch Money free?

No. The pricing help article, updated March 3, 2026, says Monarch only offers paid subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly. The trial is 7 days. After that, Core is $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and Plus is $199.99 a year. There is no free plan after the trial.

Does the Monarch Money trial require a credit card?

Yes, on the web. Each plan card says a payment method is required, and to cancel in settings before the trial ends. The Monarch FAQ, updated September 12, 2026, says you are billed at the end of the trial, and that you need to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid the automatic charge. Whether an Apple or Google checkout requires a card is not documented on the pages checked.

What happens when the Monarch Money trial ends?

You are billed for the plan, and the subscription auto-renews until you cancel. The next bill date shows on Billing Settings once you are logged in. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you are not automatically billed, and you keep access for the rest of the trial. The pricing FAQ says there is a no-questions-asked money-back guarantee and does not say how many days that window lasts. The money-back article, updated September 16, 2026, says Monarch refunds the remaining time on the subscription. A fixed number of guarantee days is not documented.

Is there a Monarch Money promo code?

On October 29, 2026 the pricing page and the promo codes page showed code WELCOME for 30% off Core for one year. The page says the discount is for new users only, cannot be combined with other offers, is valid for the annual Core plan only, and the code may expire or be deactivated at any time. Promo codes apply to annual Core billed directly by Monarch, not by Apple or Google. The discounts article, updated April 20, 2026, says you can still redeem a code after a website trial has started, codes are one use per household, and they cannot be applied to Plus or a monthly plan. The dollar total after 30% off is not printed on those pages, so that amount is not documented here. A student discount is not documented on the pricing page, the promo codes page, or the discounts article.
