Monarch Money Pricing: Cost, Trial, and Discounts
Prices and policies checked .
Monarch Money Core is $14.99 a month, or $99.99 a year, shown as $8.33 a month when you pay yearly. Plus is $199.99 a year, shown as $16.67 a month. Both plans start with a 7-day trial, and the plan cards say a payment method is required. There is no free plan after the trial. Those figures are the web prices on Monarch's pricing page on October 28, 2026. App Store and Google Play prices were not checked, and Monarch says those checkouts can differ.
This page is the price list: what each plan costs, what it includes, the trial, public discounts, and how billing, cancellation, and refunds work. Whether the bill is worth paying is a separate question, on is Monarch Money worth it. If the price is why you are looking around, the field of other apps is on Monarch Money alternatives, and the free-tier roundup is best free budget apps. If you already pay and want the cancel clicks, use how to cancel Monarch Money. Export and the move to another app are on how to switch from Monarch Money.
What Monarch charges
The pricing page lists two plans. Structured data on the page describes the prices as US dollars, plus tax where it applies. The pricing help article, updated March 3, 2026, says the same thing in another form: subscriptions are billed in US dollars and are subject to tax where it applies.
Core, paid yearly. The plan card shows $8.33 a month, billed $99.99. The disclosure under the card says "Free 7-day trial, then $99.99/year. Cancel in settings before trial ends. Payment method required." The pricing FAQ states the yearly price as $99.99.
Core, paid monthly. Switch the same card to monthly and the script shows $14.99 a month, billed $14.99, then $14.99 a month after the 7-day trial. The help article on updating a subscription, updated October 14, 2026, names the same two Core choices: Monthly ($14.99 / month) and Annual ($99.99 / year). Twelve monthly payments at $14.99 come to $179.88. The annual card is $99.99. That gap is the reason the yearly plan is the lower web price if you already know you will stay.
Plus. The Plus card shows $16.67 a month, billed $199.99 annually, then $199.99 a year after the same 7-day trial. The Plus help article says Plus is billed annually and tells you to visit the pricing page for the current price. A monthly Plus price was not on the pricing page, and the update article's monthly switch is labeled for the Core plan. Do not assume Plus can be paid month to month.
What Core and Plus include
These are the items on the pricing page on October 28, 2026, plus the Plus help article. The page is a feature list, not a promise that every bank will connect.
Core is the day-to-day plan. The card says "Budget, save, and stay on track" and lists four lines: see your complete net worth, build a budget that fits your life, visualize your money with custom reports, and set and track savings and debt goals. The feature table, marked included on Core and on Plus, also lists two budgeting approaches, a budget created from real spending, alerts before you overspend, reminders for subscriptions and upcoming bills, connections to 13,000+ banks and financial institutions, receipt scanning and itemizing, an AI assistant, a weekly summary, use on web, mobile, or iPad, adding a partner for free, and read-only sharing with a financial professional.
The household is not a second bill. The Monarch FAQ, updated September 12, 2026, says you can invite one or more household members under a single subscription. Each person gets a login. It costs nothing extra to add them. The Plus article says Plus covers the household the same way Core does.
Plus is the higher annual plan. The card says "Everything in Core, plus" and lists a retirement forecast, business income and expenses, profit-and-loss reports and tax-prep exports, advanced investment analysis, and a will. The pricing FAQ describes Plus as planning further ahead: forecasting tools, more than one income source such as a small business, and a deeper look at investments. The feature table marks those as Plus only. Core does not include them.
The Plus article, updated August 31, 2026, adds limits that the price card does not. Plus features are currently on desktop. Only parts of business tracking are on mobile. The complimentary will is a couple's will through Trust & Will, described as a $299 value covered by Monarch, and it is available only after the trial ends. The pricing page footer says will preparation is provided by Trust & Will, not by Monarch. Plus is not available on advisor-sponsored accounts. Existing Core members who were subscribed before the Plus launch on April 20 get a discount when they upgrade. The article says that discount is applied automatically, with no code, and only for members billed directly by Monarch. It does not print the discount amount. The pricing page did not print it either, so this guide does not invent one.
The in-app assistant is on the feature table for both plans. Separately, Monarch publishes an MCP connector. The connector help, updated October 22, 2026, says it is on Core and Plus, for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Gemini CLI. The default is read-only unless the tool asks for write and you approve it. Finicity-linked accounts are left out. ChatGPT support is web only and needs a paid ChatGPT plan. Plus members get more weekly connector usage than Core. The connector is included on both paid plans. It is not a separate charge.
Free trial and free plan
The headline on the pricing page is "Your first week is on us." The plan cards make that concrete: a free 7-day trial, then the plan price. A payment method is required to start. Cancel in settings before the trial ends if you do not want the charge. The trial length, the card, and the public code are on Monarch Money free trial.
The FAQ is more specific about the clock. You are billed at the end of the free trial. The subscription auto-renews until it is canceled. The next bill date shows on the Billing Settings page once you are logged in. You can cancel during the trial and keep access for the rest of it. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you are not automatically billed. There is no free plan after that week. The pricing help article says Monarch only offers paid subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly, because the product is ad-free and does not sell financial data.
The pricing FAQ also says Monarch offers a money-back guarantee. That sentence does not give a number of days. The dated window on the plan card is the 7-day trial. The refund rules are in the section below, and they are a refund of remaining time, not a second free trial.
Monarch is currently only available in the US and Canada, according to that same FAQ. The FAQ recommends connecting accounts in USD or CAD.
Discounts and promo codes
On October 28, 2026 the pricing page showed a banner: "Get 30% OFF Core for one year with code WELCOME." The promo codes page uses the same code and says "Save 30% on your first year." The footer on the pricing page says the discount is for new users only, cannot be combined with other offers, is valid for the annual Core plan only, and the code may expire or be deactivated at any time. A disclaimer on the same page says promo codes are valid on annual Core subscriptions billed directly by Monarch, not by Apple or Google. Read the checkout total. Do not treat $99.99 as the charged price if WELCOME is still applied, and do not treat 30% off as permanent if the banner is gone.
The discounts article, updated April 20, 2026, is the rule book for codes in general. WELCOME is the example it names. You can redeem a code during signup, or in Settings, then Billing, then Manage subscription, on the web. If you already started a free trial on the website, you can still redeem a code. Codes cannot be combined. They are not applied backward to a subscription you already pay for. They are one use per household: if you cancel and subscribe again, you cannot redeem the same code. Most codes expire. Unless an offer says otherwise, promo codes are for Core trials and subscriptions started on Monarch's website. They cannot be used on an Apple or Google subscription, and they cannot be applied to Plus or to a monthly plan.
Student price. A student price is not listed on the pricing page, the promo codes page, or the discounts article. A search of the Monarch help center for "student discount" on October 28, 2026 did not return a student offer. The results were general discount articles, partner offers, and category pages that mention student loans as a budget line. This guide does not treat a missing page as a hidden code. If a student offer exists, it was not on those public pages that day.
Coinbase One is a partner offer, not a public code. The Coinbase One article, updated October 8, 2026, says new Coinbase One Preferred or Premium members can get Monarch free for 6 months, then 25% off an annual plan for as long as they stay on an eligible Coinbase One plan. Preferred maps to annual Core, regularly $99.99 a year. Premium maps to annual Plus or Core, and the Plus regular price in that article is $199.99 a year. Coinbase One Basic is not eligible. The 6-month free period is for new Monarch members and, on the Plus offer, for current Core members upgrading to Plus. You claim the code inside Coinbase and finish checkout on the web. It does not work on an App Store or Google Play subscription. One promo code at a time: applying this code replaces another active code. If the Coinbase One membership ends, the discount ends at the next renewal and the plan renews at the standard annual price.
Other partner offers can exist without being a code anyone can type. This page only lists the ones read in full on October 28, 2026: WELCOME on the pricing and promo pages, and the Coinbase One article. A code you saw on a coupon site is not confirmed here.
Billing, cancellation, and refunds
You are billed at the end of the trial, and the subscription auto-renews until you cancel. The pricing help article says Monarch will notify you at least 30 days before a price change. Prices are subject to change.
The update article applies only if Monarch bills you directly. An Apple or Google subscription is managed in that store. On the web, you can switch Core between monthly and yearly. Switching from yearly to monthly keeps the unused part of the year as account credit, and monthly billing starts when that credit runs out. Switching from monthly to yearly bills the year immediately, and the unused part of the month is credited against that payment. You can move from Core to Plus at any time. The unused part of the current year is credited to Plus, and you are charged right away. Moving from Plus back to Core waits until the next renewal: Plus is canceled, and the next renewal charges Core.
Cancel. The cancel article, updated October 20, 2026, splits the steps by who bills you. On the web: open Billing Settings, choose Manage subscription, then Cancel Subscription. If cancel is missing, the article says you are likely a household member rather than the admin. Only the admin can cancel. A Google Play or Apple subscription is canceled in that store's subscription list. Monarch staff cannot see Apple subscription details. This guide does not repeat the store menus, because those screens belong to Apple and Google. After you cancel, you still have access for the time left on the subscription. Subscriptions cannot be paused or frozen. Canceling does not delete your data. After 30 days, financial connections disconnect, and new data does not sync while you are unsubscribed.
Refund. The pricing FAQ calls it a no-questions-asked money-back guarantee and does not say how many days that window lasts. The money-back article, updated September 16, 2026, is the specific rule: if you decide Monarch is not for you, Monarch refunds the remaining time on the subscription. When the refund is issued, the subscription is canceled and paid access ends immediately. You can still log in to download history, start again, or delete the account. Do not delete the account before you request the refund. Thirty days after a subscription ends, institution connections are disconnected. Refunds depend on appropriate use. Monarch can decline a request if it finds fraud or abuse of the product or of a promo. Subscriptions bought in the Apple App Store are not eligible. Apple handles those refunds. The article does not say the same exclusion for Google Play, so this page does not add one.
How the price compares
Same-day prices from each company's public page. Scroll the table sideways on a phone. Store checkouts can differ from the web price. Monarch says so for its own plans, and YNAB says app stores may still ask for a card on a trial that the website does not.
| App | Price | Trial or free plan |
|---|---|---|
| Monarch Core | $14.99 a month, or $99.99 a year shown as $8.33 a month. US dollars, plus tax. | 7-day trial. A payment method is required. No free plan after that. |
| Monarch Plus | $199.99 a year, shown as $16.67 a month. US dollars, plus tax. A monthly Plus price was not on the page. | Same 7-day trial, then $199.99 a year. |
| YNAB | $14.99 a month, or $109 a year shown as $9.08 a month. US dollars, plus tax. | 34-day trial. No card if you start on ynab.com. No free plan after that. |
| Copilot Money | $18 a month, or $109 a year shown as $9 a month. The yearly price is a limited-time offer, instead of $119. | 1-month trial for new users. The FAQ says there is no permanent free tier. Whether a card is required: not stated on the pages checked. |
| EveryDollar | Free plan. Premium is $17.99 a month, or $79.99 a year shown as $6.67 a month. | The free plan does not expire. Premium has a 14-day trial for new users. Bank connect is on Premium. |
| Simplifi | Introductory $3.99 a month and regular $6.99 a month, both billed annually. No monthly plan. | No free trial. A 30-day money-back guarantee on purchases from Quicken.com. |
| Rocket Money | A free plan. Premium is a price you choose. Premium+ is $15 a month plus tax. | The free plan does not expire into a bill. New Premium members get a 7-day trial. A specific Premium dollar amount is not printed. |
| FYNOur product. This is FYN's site. | Free to start, no card. Pro is $9.99 a month. | The free plan stays free. Bank sync is Pro only, up to 15 accounts via Plaid. |
On a monthly bill, Monarch Core and YNAB are both $14.99. Copilot's monthly price, $18, is higher. EveryDollar Premium monthly is $17.99. On an annual bill, Core at $99.99 is less than YNAB at $109 and less than Copilot's limited-time $109 year. EveryDollar Premium at $79.99 a year is less than annual Core, and it is a different product: the free EveryDollar plan stays free, and bank connect is on Premium. Simplifi's pages show an introductory $3.99 a month and a regular $6.99 a month, both billed annually. Quicken says the final price may differ from the monthly rate times 12, so this page does not turn those rates into a yearly total. The product page says the introductory offer is for the first year, for new memberships, when you order from Quicken by November 26, 2026. Renewals are at the then-current rate. Simplifi's subscription FAQ, updated September 22, 2026, says there is no free trial, only annual plans, and a 30-day money-back guarantee from the original purchase date for Quicken.com purchases. It also says Simplifi does not currently offer a student or military discount.
Rocket Money is the row with a free plan that does not turn into a subscription by itself. The cost article puts subscription tracking, spend reviews, and bill reminders on the free plan. Custom budgets and real-time account syncing are listed under Premium, which is a price you choose on a sliding scale. The article does not print a Premium dollar amount, so none is listed here. Premium+ is a fixed $15 a month plus tax. New Premium members get a 7-day trial, then the price they selected.
YNAB's pricing FAQ does offer college students a free 365-day trial, with proof of enrollment. That is YNAB's program, on ynab.com/pricing. It is not a Monarch student price. Copilot's pages checked that day do not state a tax. The FAQ says the trial is one month and that there is no permanent free tier. The homepage pricing block is the source for $18, $109, and the $119 the yearly offer replaces.

Where FYN fits
You can start free, with no card. The free plan does not expire. On the pricing page, Pro is $9.99 a month. On a monthly bill, that is less than Core at $14.99.
Receipt photos and emailed receipts are one monthly count: 20 a month on Free, 200 a month on Pro. Ask FYN is 20 questions a month on Free and 500 on Pro. Bank sync is Pro only, via Plaid, up to 15 accounts. A free account does not connect a bank. FYN's connector is read-only and never moves money. It lets ChatGPT and Claude read the ledger. The pricing page lists 500 of those calls a day on Free and 10,000 a day on Pro. The connector does not get a bank password. Monarch's connector, cited above, is a different product and can be given write access.
The row-by-row grid is FYN vs Monarch Money.
FAQ
How much does Monarch Money cost?
On October 28, 2026 Monarch's pricing page listed Core at $14.99 a month, or $99.99 a year shown as $8.33 a month. Plus was $199.99 a year, shown as $16.67 a month. Structured data on that page says those prices are in US dollars, plus tax where it applies. A monthly Plus price was not on the page. The help article on updating a subscription, updated October 14, 2026, also names Core monthly at $14.99 and Core annual at $99.99. Twelve monthly Core payments at $14.99 come to $179.88, against $99.99 if you pay for the year. App Store and Google Play prices were not checked.
Does Monarch Money have a free trial?
Yes. Both plan cards say a free 7-day trial, then the plan price, and that a payment method is required. Cancel in settings before the trial ends. The Monarch FAQ, updated September 12, 2026, says you are billed at the end of the trial, the subscription auto-renews until you cancel, and you need to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid the charge. You keep access for the rest of the trial after you cancel. There is no free plan after those 7 days.
Is there a free Monarch Money plan?
No. The pricing help article, updated March 3, 2026, says Monarch only offers paid subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly. The plan cards require a payment method for the 7-day trial. After the trial, the plan price starts. The same help article says prices can change, and that Monarch will notify you at least 30 days before a price change. Subscriptions are billed in US dollars and are subject to tax where it applies.
Does Monarch Money have a discount code or a student price?
On October 28, 2026 the pricing page and the promo codes page showed code WELCOME for 30% off Core for one year. The page says the discount is for new users only, cannot be combined with other offers, is valid for the annual Core plan only, and the code may expire or be deactivated at any time. Promo codes apply to annual Core billed directly by Monarch, not by Apple or Google. The discounts article, updated April 20, 2026, says codes cannot be applied to Plus or monthly plans, are one use per household, and are not applied to a subscription you already pay for. A student price is not listed on the pricing page, the promo codes page, or that discounts article. A help-center search for student discount on October 28, 2026 did not return a student offer. Coinbase One Preferred and Premium members have a separate offer, documented October 8, 2026: 6 months free for eligible new members, then 25% off an annual plan while that Coinbase One membership stays active. That code is claimed inside Coinbase, not typed from the public pricing page.
How do you cancel Monarch Money and get a refund?
For a subscription billed on Monarch's site, the cancel article updated October 20, 2026 says open Billing Settings, choose Manage subscription, then Cancel Subscription. Only the household admin can cancel. Access continues for the time left on the subscription. Subscriptions cannot be paused, and canceling does not delete your data. After 30 days, financial connections disconnect. The money-back article, updated September 16, 2026, says Monarch refunds the remaining time on the subscription, and access ends when the refund is issued. Apple App Store purchases are refunded by Apple, not by Monarch. Do not delete the account before you request the refund. Monarch can decline a refund if it finds fraud or abuse.
What is the difference between Monarch Core and Plus?
Core is the day-to-day plan, at $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. The Core card lists net worth, a budget, custom reports, and savings and debt goals. The feature table also lists connections to 13,000+ institutions, receipt itemizing, an AI assistant, and adding a partner for free, on both plans. Plus is $199.99 a year. The Plus card adds a retirement forecast, business income and expenses, profit-and-loss and tax-prep exports, advanced investment analysis, and a will. The Plus help article says Plus is billed annually, covers the household, and that Plus features are currently on desktop, with only parts of business tracking on mobile. The complimentary will is available after the trial ends. Pay for Plus only if you will use those extras.
